Things to Remember

One of the things that I remembered, that was on the test was adding formulas that would add up different totals from different worksheets. Another thing was to copy a comment and placed them on cells on worksheets. The last thing that I saw was to remove the page break and place it between columns.

Chapter 7 Day 1

Naming Groups of Data

One way to name a group of cells is to first, select the cells that you want. Then, you would want to name the group of cells using the name box. After that, on your Formulas tab, in the Defined Names group,go to your Name Manager. A dialog box will pop up showing all the cell groups that you named. Next, click on the group that you want to change the reference. Once you have done that, the values will change, meaning that you either added or toke away a cell reference.


Creating Formulas to Calculate Values

After you write data you can create a formula for the previous data you just wrote. And you can say where do you want your answer. You can do sums averages counts and many more just go to the formula dialog box.

Chaper 6 Day 3, 10 questions

1) The easiest way to enter data into a worksheet is to simply click on and type it in.

2) Auto fill-When you want to copy a word as many times as you want to any number of cells.
i) Fill series-When Excel continues the pattern given. Ex. –(2, 4, 6, 8.)

3) A. Copy cells
i) B. Fill series
ii) C. Fill formatting only
iii) D. Fill without formatting

4) It shows you a variety of words that you might want to put on the cell.

5) It appears right after you pasted anything to a cell, on the bottom right.

6) You can use the Find and Replace feature on your Home Tab.

7) You can find all the occurrences of a word and change all of them at the same time.

3. Thesaurus

9) You simply go to your home tab and under the Format as Table, click the table that you want.

10) You can get the total of the numbers in the column or the average of the total. There’s a lot more options that you can pick.

Chaper 6 Day 2

Finding and Replacing Data

There are many ways to move data within a worksheet, but you can have over a million rows in one single worksheet. So the easiest way to find things that you want is to use the Find and Replace dialog box. Using this feature is easy, you simply type the word or cell reference that you want to find or replace. In the same dialog box can modify font, color etc. by clicking on the format options. You can also change values by hand.

Correcting and Expanding Upon Worksheet Data

In Excel, after you finished entering your data, if there is any word that Excel doesn't recognize, it will highlighted automatically. If you want to see these words, you simply go your Review tab, and under the Proofing group, go to the Spelling Checker. A list of suggested words will be under the word and you simply click on the one that you want. Now, let say that the word is not misspelled is correct you can simply add it to the dictionary and Excel will no longer recognized as a misspelled word. You can also use the thesaurus's to find other suggestions in how to write the word.

Defining a Table

To create a table make sure you type in the data in two columns that are next to each other and select the column headers. In the home tab in the styles group click the Format as Table button and type in the two columns you want to turn into a table. When adding data in the table select the cell in the row and type. The autocorrect options smart tag shows up. When done with a table one can add a total row. When added the table automatically adds the sum of the values in the far right column of the table. One can also change the table name and to do this click any cell in the table and go to the design tab and in the Properties group in the Table Name field type in the title.

Chapter 6

Entering and Revising Data

The simplest way to enter data is to just click on the cell and typing it. But if you want to make life a little easier, just used the auto fill or fill series. Auto fill is when you want to repeat the same word and fill as many cells as you want. Fill series is when you type let's say for example 2, fill series will automatically continue the pattern and place a 4 in the next cell. In Excel, you have complete control over how you want fill series or auto fill.

Moving Data Within a Workbook

The easiest way you can move a cell is to just click on the activated cell and move it. You can also move multiple cell at once to. An Active Cell, a bold border will appear over the cell meaning that you can modify it and do what ever you want with it. You can also move cells, columns, and rows, by simply clicking on the row, cell or columns header.

Setting up a Workbook

Intro

When you open Excel, by default you will have 3 spread sheets. Within these worksheets you can add, delete, move, copy etc. to any other workbook. A new feature in Excel will let you use multiple workbooks and view them in the same window. Another great feature is where you can put frequently used commands to your Quick Access Toolbar.

Creating Workbooks

Make sure you save your files, as frequently as possible, or save right after you did any work that took you for ever to do.
In excel you can also specify what kind of format you want. Make sure that you used key words in order to find it quicker.
In Excel, now you can set your own workbooks properties, Title, Author, Subject,, Keywords, Category, and Status. To make any change's to your document, you simply click on it, and change it.

Modifying Workbooks

To specify any workbooks names simply click on the bottom tab and change it. To add any worksheet You can also change the order of the worksheets by clicking and dragging. or if you want one worksheet to out stand from the others you can right click it and change the color or make it 3D so it will out stand.
You can also temporarily delete or hide a worksheet fro a certain amount of time.

Excel 11-20

Enter Number


To enter a number select the cell and write down the number you choose to write





Exit Excel:


To exit Excel go to your Microsoft Office button. On the far right bottom corner click on the Exit Excel button.





Fill Series - Drag and Drop:


To fill in series click on the cell you wish to drag and drop. If you put pointer and the bottom right corner of that cell the pointer turns into a cross. Click on that and hold it. Drag it to the cell you want the series to continue.





Font Size:


To change the font size of a text. Select the cell and on the home tab in the font group go to the font size button. Change it to the font size you want it to.





Fonts:
To change the fonts highlight the text and go to the home tab and in the font group click the fonts button. Change it to the one you want.







Function - Autosum:
To autosum make sure you select the cell that's under the other cells you are going to sum. In the home tab in the editing group click the autosum button.







Go To:
To "go to" go to the find and select button on the home tab in the editing group and click go to and type in what you want.







Help - Display Help Contents:
To display help contents go to the help button and at the top of the menu bar on the help display box click the button that says Table of Contents with the book on it and click it.







Help - Search:
To search for something go the help button and and in the text box type the question or thing you want to find and click search.







Modify Formula:
To modify a formula click on the cell that you want to modify the formula. On the top of the page an "fx" will appear and a formula next to it. Click on the the numbers and delete them. Put the letter and number you wish to have and press enter.

Excel Intro 1-10

1.Apply Style

First make sure you are on your home tab. Next go to your style group and click on the Cell styles. Next click on the style that you want.

2.Auto Correct

First click on the office, then go to your Excel Options. After that go to the Proofing tab. In the proofing tab go to your Auto Correct Options. A screen fill pop out with all your options. Check the Capitalize Name box, then click OK.


3.Bold cell contents

On your home go to your Font group and click on the Bold Button.

4.Cell formatting-Remove

On your Home Tab go to your Styles group. Then click on the Cell Styles button a drop down box will open, then click on the normal style and all formatting is cleared.

5.Center Across cells

On your home tab, go to your Alignment Group. click on the Merge and Center button.

6.Chart-create

On your Insert tab go to your Illustrations Group, then click the column chart button a drop down will give you all your options.

7.Clear cells

In your home tab, go to your Editing Group and click the Clear Button, a drop down will give you your options, click on the Clear Contents Button.

8.Color Text

In the home tab go to your Font Group and click on the Font color arrow. Your Options are given to you.

9.Copy cells

In your home tab go to your Clipboard group and click on the copy button, the context is copied to your clipboard.

10.Create New workbook-blank

Go to the office Button and click on the New,the New Workbook will open Click on the Blank Workbook then click on the create Button

Current Events (Earthquake HIts Haiti)

Yesterday, around 5 p.m an 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the country of Haiti. Now, you might say what does a earthquake have to with our economy. Well this is your answer. The United States always feels that it should help other countries in time of need. Seeding needed supplies to other countries spends a lot of our government's money. Now who's the one that provides that money. BINGO! Non other than tax payers. Tax payer's are the one's that support this countries economical franchise. So, what do you think should the United State spends million's to help other countries, our should we lay back and help our fallen economy.

Connecting Word and Excel, Game plan

Last semester was a hard but worth it. All the work and effort paid off by a certification. This semester will be no different, I know there will be things that I will not like but I know they will benefit me. This semester, I will give all my attention to the task at hand and I will turn in Company worthy papers. My game plan will be to push throw the things that I don't like, and learn and prepare for the Excel test. Here We Go!
